Romancing SaGa 2 (ロマンシング サ・ガ2Romanshingu Sa Ga Tsū?) is a Role-Playing Game developed by Square and released exclusively for the Super Famicom system in Japan on December 10, 1993. It is the fifth title in the SaGa series.

In Romancing SaGa 2, the player plays as the Emperor or Empress of Avalon, a castle located in the northwest corner of the game's world map. The Treasurer, in the throne room, tells the player the fund reserve in his or her castle treasury. Development of new equipment and spells, and establishment of services in Avalon will consume funds. The Treasurer also fills the Emperor with walking about funds if the player needs it. Also in the throne room is the Accountant. He tells the player how much money he or she collects per battle. When the player controls more land on the map, the amount increases. In the southeast corner of the throne room is the Chancellor. He tells the player what problems need to be solved in the world and where to solve them. Solving the problems he points out aids the player to advance to the next generation. The Fighters are the default characters that join the player early in the game. They are not the best characters, but as the player advances through the game, he or she will get other characters who specialize in areas that the Fighters are weak in. The Formation Soldiers demonstrate any battle formations the player happens to know and will collaborate with the player to make new formations. If the heir the player chooses knows a formation, it is recommended that the player consult the Formation Soldiers.

Throughout the game the player will be able to expand the capital. They will not appear until the player cleared a generation though after accepting the offers to start the public works.

Story[edit]

The Emperor or Empress of Avalon begins the game as King Leon and later plays as his various heirs down through the game years. Leon hands his kingdom over to his son, Gellard. At the end of Gellard's reign, the player is able to choose his or her own successor and pass on Gellard's abilities to them. At the end of each generation, he or she will be given a choice of four heirs. Their identity is based on a combination of chance and anyone whom the player has assisted or allied within in a past generation.

Leveling Guide

In Romancing Saga Re Universe, strengthening your characters is important if you want to take on more challenging quests and missions. This can be done by grinding quests and allocating Style EXP at the dojo.

Base Attributes

Base attributes are a character’s base stats, independent from the modifiers applied when equipping Styles. These can only be increased by clearing quests.

Style Attributes

Style attributes, meanwhile, refer to the a Style’s stats that adjust a character’s base attributes, resulting in actual attributes. These can only be increased by leveling up the style at the dojo using Style EXP accumulated from battle.

Replenishing Stamina with Tickets

When grinding the expeditions or quests, you’ll often burn stamina fairly quickly. One way to go around it is to use tickets. Tickets give instant stamina which can be essential to strengthen your common roster. We recommend saving at least a hundred tickets for future use. You can acquire tickets from the following: shops, mission rewards, or event rewards.

Entering Quests

Boosting character’s stats can be done through the quests. When taking higher difficulty quests such as hard or very hard, there’s a limit. Choose a unit that has a style that is easy to train. For example, choose units with either A or S styles over units that have SS styles.

Before hitting that start button, check each of the styles in the party. You might want to rethink which style to send in battle based on their appearance. Check for styles that shine with a vibrant yellow aura to maximize stat growth. Conversely, styles shimmering in green aura struggle to grow their stats this time around. In other words, styles with yellow auras are the best choices to send to battle, while styles that have no aura are the worst options. Whether you’re taking on battle quests or expeditions, it’s a good practice to mix and match styles that have at least yellow auras to achieve optimal growth.

Saga

It’s easier to reach the upper limit if you’re grinding the easy quests. That being said, you need to determine more difficult level quests that can be done repeatedly while having the auto-battle setting to grind with ease.

Party Formation

Romancing Saga 2 English Rom

Even with a party consisting of different characters, you can strive to get a set up working with at least one character. However, having more than one stronger character is ideal to prevent getting wiped while grinding with auto. Below is a list of recommended quests to grind while starting out.

Raising the Style Level Cap

Between focusing on maxing out one unit and having a balanced party, the latter gets more mileage in the long run. The reason being that SS rank units consume valuable gold pieces which can be hard to come by. That being said, you can opt to stop raising one unit once its level caps at 42 and then continue with another until you form a team composition of the same levels. Aside from raising the level, you’ll also earn style bonus and master level experience. Below is a list of level, style bonuses, and costs.

Cost for leveling and rewards

38Bonus to certain stats75 pieces
42Master level exp170 pieces
46Bonus to certain stats360 pieces

Farming Style Pieces and Aurum

Piece and aurum are spent in order to raise the level cap. Between the two, aurum or the currency is also required for other services so be sure to keep checking for free quests.

How to Obtain More Pieces

There are many ways to obtain pieces. The following include: rolling the same style while summoning, buying from the shop, exchanging drops while on an event, exchanging white crystals, and reward for training many times.
