The success helped to spawn Mount & Blade Warband, the expansion which introduced a lot of new features such as the creation of your own kingdom and marriage in 2010. Ever since then, news and releases of new Mount & Blade products have been quiet ever since its split away from Paradox Interactive, with some whispers about the development of the direct sequel to the original Mount & Blade: Mount & Blade II: Bannerlords, which isn’t slated to be ready for at least another year. And while the strong mod community is still quite active, there has definitely been clamoring for a new game. Mount & Blade Warband: Viking Conquest is that game.

Being developed by both Taleworlds Entertainment and Brytenwalda, one of the more complex and oldest mods for Mount & Blade, Viking Conquest will be big. With 21 nations and 6 different cultures, this will easily be Taleworld’s biggest game to date with a map that covers the British Isles, Frisia, Norway and Denmark.

A major addition to gameplay will be being able to own and pilot a ship across the seas and having sea battles. Add in 300 cities and castles, hundreds of historical figures, 15 possible companions, religion playing a big part and vikings and you will find that Mount & Blade Warband: Viking Conquest is shaping up to be a very interesting game indeed.

Mount & Blade Warband: Viking Conquest will be available on PC sometime in December of this year.
